Welcome to Vesterke guesthouse *

We, your hosts, Yvonne and Eric…

..would like to wish you a warm welcome to beautiful and tranquil Tungelroy. Tungelroy is a small parish village which belongs to the municipality of Weert. Weert has been proclaimed the "Greenest Region of the World". The village has a cosy centre and extensive neighbouring countryside. It is surrounded by wooded nature areas and is close to the “Tungelroyse Beek”; the local brook.

Our guesthouse is a private house and is situated behind a conifer hedge, tucked away from the outside world. It is perfect place for people who love nature and want to relax and unwind. The guesthouse is situated in a peaceful location bordering the nature area “Tungelerwallen” and can accommodate four people. It is designed in a homely German “stube” style and has a sitting area, a dining area, a kitchen, a separate bedroom with twin beds and a separate shower room with toilet. The outside area comprises a large courtyard with covered terrace and Jacuzzi. Wonderful for a night’s stay but also extremely suitable as your holiday residence for a longer stay.

Discovering the surrounding area of guesthouse Vesterke*

The scenery of Middle Limburg is not comparable to the beauty of South Limburg, but because of its shallower landscape is much more accessible for recreational hikers and cyclists. There is so much to discover in Middle Limburg. Vesterke guesthouse is an excellent home base for this. Situated at the edge of the parish village of Tungelroy it is 10-minute walk to the nature area of the “Tungelerwallen”. The “Krang” nature area is 20 minutes walk away. As well as these woods in the direct surroundings are other wooded nature areas; the “IJzerenman”, the “Laurabossen”, the “Vossenven” and “Brook”. As a nature lover you can walk, hike, cycle, mountain bike to your heart’s content. There are also many possibilities for horse riding.

Tungelroy lies on the Pilgrim’s path.

A route via a replica Roman bridge begins in the centre of Tungelroy on the “Barbaraplein”.

The start of cycle node route 83 is just 400 meters from Vesterke guesthouse.

There are may walking and cycling trails in the region and in the whole of Middle Limburg. These are all clearly marked but of course we are happy to tell you all about them.

In and around these nature areas and in the whole of Middle Limburg are many possibilities to rest and enjoy a bite to eat and something to drink. In Tungelroy you can visit the lovely café “Kimpe Veld” on Barbaraplein or Restaurant “de Toerist” on the main road, the Maaseikerweg.

Not far from these beautiful nature areas are the centres of Weert and Stramproy. These atmospheric places are definitely worth a visit. For grocery shopping the Jumbo supermarket in Stramproy is open 365 days a year from 08.00 - 21.00. Other attractions are shopping or visiting one of the local places of interest such as the St. Martinuskerk (church) in Weert. Or just enjoy the hospitality and culinary delights of one of the cafés or restaurants. Don’t miss trying the popular and delicious “Weerter vlaai” which is the local fruit or crumble tart.

Weert has a sub tropical indoor and outdoor swimming pool at “de IJzerenman”.

Also in Middle Limburg is a plethora of canals, rivers and lakes. The “Maasplassen” are close by.

The historical white village “Thorn” is definitely worth a visit.

Shopping is a must in Weert, but also in Roermond. This city is approximately 20 kilometres from Vesterke guesthouse and offers not only a lovely city centre with many shops, but also has a Designer Outlet and a Retail Park. These are both open almost 365 days a year.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of the many possibilities. In this region, there are many places of interest to visit, activities and workshops to take part in, excursions to go on. Far too many to mention. At the Vesterke guesthouse, you will find more information and we are always happy to help you with ideas for putting together your perfect holiday itinerary.

And after a day of exploration it’s lovely to return to your home from home at Vesterke guesthouse where you can recharge your batteries, perhaps accompanied by a high tea or a high wine which we can provide for you. Then relax in your very own Jacuzzi.
